Prelaboratory exercises for each of the experiments (except the first experiment M1) will be done on Computerized Homework in Physics (CHIP), reached by clicking on Prelab Assignments below. Prelaboratory exercises for each of the experiments will be done on Computerized Homework in Physics (CHIP), reached by clicking on Prelab Assignments below. Prelaboratory exercises are due before you are scheduled to do an experiment.

When you click on one of the assignments you will be asked for a login name and password in order to have your credit recorded. This login name and password combination also protects your access to the gradebook.

HELP:  How to find login name and the initial password?

If you enrolled late in the course, contact Dr. V. K. Saxena (saxena@physics.purdue.edu) or Dr. A. Lewicki (lew@physics.purdue.edu) to get a CHIP account in 252, giving your full name according to the Registrar, your Student Identification Number (SID), and your PHYS252 laboratory and recitation division numbers. Alternatively, click the Problem Report link at the bottom of this page, fill out the form, and click on the submit button.

If you cannot log in to CHIP even after reading and using the information link above, then click: help

SPRING 2009 STUDENTS: Your first task will be to change your password. Starting here click on the "Student Gradebook" option. You will be asked to enter your login name and your initial password. When you have correctly entered these, you will be let into the gradebook. You should then change your password to something of your choice by clicking on the "Change My Password" option and following the directions.

Please note that your answers generally need to be at least within 1% of the correct value to register as correct. To achieve the 1% accuracy students should use at least three significant digits for all numerical problems. See Instructions for important information (including those on accuracy).

For all lab make-ups, answers to the prelaboratory questions must be submitted on paper.

If you are not able to login, please read the instructions in the blue handout and follow them carefully to construct your login name and initial password.
